yes, it has been maddening… multiple times, I went back to the template which
was saved encoded as unicode, and it looked fine (even showing invisibles,
those characters were simply ordinary spaces) and I even backspace (deleted)
anything that could have been offending characters back to the previous
placeholder and reimported the newly-saved versions and they would still
generate errors.
I eventually fixed it by taking a template that I know works, and modified it
by saving (incorporating) the differences that I needed, and then re-importing
*that*
Which worked, but I remain hopeful the nature / basis of the problem will
before too long become clearer …
