Hi All - 

        I have received this post, that I forward to the list FYI.
Personally I don't like non-GPL software, so I'd rather go our way
(whatever we decide it is), though probably we should not try to reinvent
the weel (i.e. we should take inspiration from the good stuff available
around).

You might be interested to see that there exists a free (yes, free,
not GPL) OpenMP translator suitable for gcc at:

http://odinmp.imit.kth.se

At http://www.cepba.upc.es/intone you can download a run-time system.
It is currently implemented only for Linux and Irix so you are welcome
to do efficient implementations for other systems (AIX and Solaris are
most needed, I guess).
