I think that's misleading.

It's no good for PPS timing.

It might work fine for NMEA timing if the particular GPS device generates 
good timing on its serial port.  Ed says the Venus chip does that.

Does anybody know of low-cost GPS "mice" type devices that use the Venus chip?
