[gpsd-users] Sending NMEA data into the GPS device ?

Hi,

maybe somebody can help me with with a short example. Is it possible and 
how, to send custom (NMEA0183-)string to the GPS device ?

A typical use-case would be to trigger custom NMEA commands to the GPS 
device, out of the application.
I've seen in driver_nmea0183.c there is nmea_write()/nmea_send(), but 
how could this accessed via the JSON protocol ?
