I looked at CVS and saw there has been some activity.
On the web page
http://www.gnu.org/software/guile-gtk/download/
appears
For the time being, release tarballs are not available. Please use the
development snapshots from CVS and Arch.
This is very unfriendly for a mostly mature, heading towards end of
life project (not because of anything wrong with guile-gtk, but
because gtk 1.2 is deprecated). In June I made an unofficial tarball
to I could add this to pkgsrc-wip.sourceforge.net.
Is there any reason why the current CVS can't be made into 0.41 (this
would skip 0.40 and make things easier for me, since the pkgsrc
version is 0.40.90 because I misinterpreted the beta tag. There seems
to be a real reluctance to make a tarball, and I find this baffling.
I just made a 0.40.91 tarball from CVS, and put it up at:
http://www.ir.bbn.com/~gdt/pkgsrc-wip/
Do distributions such as debian package software like this that only
exists in CVS? I would expect the current situation to prevent
guile-gtk from being available in binary packages etc. Surely this is
not a good situation.
<flamebait>Even guile-gnome has release tarballs now. :-)</>
