A first comment:

The one step away is too little for rdf. We need at *least* the analogue of stub connectors from zz, i.e. if a new node is going to be revealed when you take a step, you should at least see a stub at that point, both backwards and forwards. As it is, I feel lost in even small structures..

A vanishing-like view might be even better.

I'd go as far as saying it is absolutely necessary. :-) It may also work to not show backward connections on the right and not show posward connections on the left (except as stubs), as an alternative, but we definitely need to show more than one step to the left/right. I think it is justified to put this as a task for 0.2, already.

Anybody want to start on it? :-)
