The default fill value is whatever an all-zero bit pattern means for
the type of a given dataset. That's what H5Pget_fill_value() returns
if H5Pset_fill_value() has never been called for a dataset.

If setting a fill value is a requirement for H5MD conformity, then
this should of course be in the specification.
