Okay I was running 1.5 before but now I've updated and gone with your changes and its fixed.

The only problem is I guess halevt runs as a non root user, so I get a permission denied when plugging it in. Is there any way around this?

I couldn't reproduce it. Could you please take the latest release
or the git version (they are the same right now), and start halevt
like (in debug mode):

halevt -d -c /etc/halevt/halevt.xml

try to make it segfault and post the result here?

If you manage to make it segfault, a backtrace would be very
useful. A backtrace may be obtained like this:

gdb --args halevt -d -c /etc/halevt/halevt.xml
...

and when it has segfaulted, at the gdb prompt
bt

and then cut and paste what gdb says at that point.

Thanks!
