CFengine on mobile machines?

Is anyone out there using CFengine on laptops?  On desktop machines,
it is convenient to run CFengine from cron, and we have arranged it
so that it will update its config by fetching it from a CVS server.

But how to automatically run CFengine on a laptop?  It is not always
on, and when it is on, it might not have the connectivity required to
fetch the most recent config.  Or maybe running CFengine
automatically is not a good idea for some reason?

Opinions appreciated.
