Lilypond: Specifying measure lenght (Resent)

Subject: Lilypond: Specifying measure lenght

Is there an easy way to specify the lenght of a single measure? This is
useful expecially when I try to put some text above a multimeasure rest
and either don't want the text to interfere with the rest duration number
or have a text which is so long that it would exceed the measure lenght
even if raised above the duration number.
