debugging problem GRUB EFI boot

Hello everyone

Trying to run RH7 (prerelease) on a UEFI platform I’m running into the problem that GRUB loads the OS from HD into memory (grub debug reports file system close), but for some reasons the subsequent call to the kernel entry point fails. In some cases the system reboots, in other it simply hangs.

Unfortunately our debug tools are Microsoft based, which creates a problem here and raises these 2 questions:

a)      Is there any chance to get MS PDB debug information out of the build process for grubx64.efi?

b)      Has anyone tried compiling Grub – specifically the grubx64.efi file – using MS Visual C?

Please send an answer directly as I’m not member of the list

Thanks for any pointers and help

Happy hacking

Michael
