innacurate count of articles

Hello,

I am encountering a problem that is the same as one year ago:

Gnus warns me that a group has 4419 unread articles in a group that
has only one article (that's because I move articles):

Doing "G E" gives me

("nnml:XXXX" 3
 ((1 . 2))
 nil "nnml:"
 ((timestamp 18439 30617)))

I tried:

M-x nnml-generate-nov-databases RET

but same result,

I also try to move all my articles (i.e my unique article) in other
group nnml:XXXfake and doing it again nnml:XXXX

The count is then correct, but when I restart, gnus, the count is
again wrong.

any help would be really appreciated...
