The reason is most probably that your imap server is agentized.  Sadly,
the agent doesn't play nicely with backends that support article
deletion.  The best I can suggest is: don't agentize your imap server,
and if that results in bad performance, consider running a local IMAP
server which you sync with remote accounts using OfflineIMAP.  Dovecot
is a good choice.  It's very lightweight, and easy to configure.
