Not in all cases I know, and both of my parents work in the medical
field, as long as some of my friends. Computers used to access medical
records are totally normal computers, also used for classical
applications like text processor or spreadsheet.
The main reason is probably that an hospital cannot affort to but two
computers for each desk, a specific one for the medical record access
and a generic one for all other computer uses.
