I think making just simple wrapper scripts that emulate pip, cargo, etc.
behaviour on top of Guix would be a great solution. This would also
require a lot of work for writing scripts to convert the packages from
their formats to Guix package definitions. This is work that will have
to be done regardless in the future if we wish Guix to be an universal
package manager.
This would also lessen the work required for maintaining single language
specific packages in Guix when specific packages depend on them and that
effort could be used for maintaining the scripts.
