Hi Gary,

Hallo Ralf,

I'd like to commit the contents of my quilt .patches directory to CVS.
It will make it easy for *anyone* to fish patches out of it and apply
them (with or without quilt) and maybe give feedback, as well as
document what I'm working on.

FWIW, it seems weird to give an OK to an unseen change. Not that I
expect any surprises, but it just seems odd. I wonder why you don't
just post the patches. Didn't you also track Libtool through git or
some other VCS which makes getting changes of individual branches
easier.

Yes, before I discovered quilt I kept an Arch mirror with a feature
branch containing all my unapplied patches. But now that Arch has all
but died, and since it was a lot of work keeping everything in sync
(compared to using quilt). I've decided to wait until after 2.2 and
then try to get you all to let me move the master repo to git, or even
svn, or whatever savannah can offer us.

I mean, it doesn't seem to me that accessibility is an issue, rather
that we have too few people to actually give feedback or do a review
at all, no?

I didn't explain myself very well. I meant to say that I have several
patches in quilt format in the .patches directory of my local libtool
working copy. Some of them are half-cocked, some of them pending
review, some of them partially finished, but none-the-less representing
many hours of work. If I fell off the face of the Earth tomorrow, it
would be a shame if they were lost.

Merely as fortunate side-effects, I could work on my patch queue from
any computer without having to email patches to myself, or manually
fetch them from the list archives, and anyone that is also using quilt
could easily 'quilt apply' parts of my patch queue, or indeed add
patches of their own.

Cheers,
        Gary
