Are you sure about "S:|" and "|:S" ?

I think I'll go for

|S -> | and S
S| -> S and |
S -> || and S (your "||S" example above)

on line breaks.

I hope I can cope with the repeat bar lines/segno combinations in 
respect to the span bar lines - let's see.
