Ah, sorry.  I ran ./configure, but not ./autogen.sh.

got it now.


It builds farther, but I'm seeing some weird errors.  I'm trying it
again now with only a single thread -- if this works, then I'd suggest
checking to make sure that you included the multi-job fixes that John
made a few months ago are still present in your version.

Alternately, somebody might have messed up git in the past day or two,
but I can't see any suspicious commits in the history.
