Am doing it now. I've installed it 7-8 times in the last few days but
haven't followed your instructions step-by-step until now.
Excellent! I never knew you could eject the cd image while it was
running. I always shut down then changed boot order. This and your
instructions on Guest Additions are really good. I've always managed
to find a difficult way to do these things.
Might need note about using Ctrl+Shift+V to paste into a terminal, in
case people are copying/pasting from the doc pages.
Where it says "You should now be able to modify the source files using
your normal text editor," does this mean their usual Wndows or Mac
editor, or an editor inside the VM? I don't see a way to edit the
files outside the VM.
where it says "Other operating music systems" delete the word "music"?
These are good instructions. I never knew about out-of-tree building,
and I've been building from source for 2 yrs. I'll switch to this
method.
A couple of things where you talk about Ubuntu and Linux generally. If
anyone wants to install regular desktop software in the VM it's going
to be much easier to use the Ubuntu Software Center than Synaptic
package manager, which is better for development packages and
libraries. General reference: The "Ubuntu pocket guide" might be a
good place for folks to start. It's a free download:
