Thanks for the suggestions. But I'm afraid only the first three would be 
appropriate at all, and even these aren't better than "Goal" or 
"Mission" or "Objective".

I've uploaded a second patchset with David's "Objective" suggestion, but 
I'm nearly ready to revert it to "Goal" after Phil's last email.
