I don't think that's specifically supported at the moment, even
though you could make the stems overlap to get the same effect.

Yes, this is one of the major bugs in the 1.4.x version that has
been solved in 1.5.x. Unfortunately, the 1.5 versions have had a
number of other bugs instead, but the latest versions seem fairly
functional.
