Yes.

\override Notehead #'style = #'cross
\revert Notehead #'style
or
\override Notehead #'style = #'default
(I think)

I believe that's the right command; "cross" might be a different word,
though.  If it doesn't work, try looking up note or notehead in the
program reference.
