Overlapping notes in MIDI output

Hello,

I'm having some trouble with MIDI output. Using this:

\relative c'' {
  << { c4 d e c } \\ { c1 } >>
}

The last c4 is not played because the c1 is still playing.
Is there a way to work around this behavior?
