Yep, that does exactly the right thing.  Had to wait for the debian experimental package to compile :(

To summarise (in case someone should do a search): Doing a \set stanza={\dynamic "*"} inline with the lyricmode produces exactly the right results for dynamic markings.  It's probably an abuse of notation - but that's perfectly OK :)

apparently this starts working with 2.15.2 - I suggest to upgrade to the
newest stable 2.16.1!
