articulation on musical expression

Is there any way to apply an articulation (accent, staccato etc.) to a musical _expression_ instead of a single note?

For instance, if I have a variable like this:

  c4 e g a

  c a g e

is there any way to transform it to:

  c4\staccato e\staccato g\staccato a\staccato

  c\staccato a\staccato g\staccato e\staccato

?
