I made a typo in the previous mail

I meant to say - reduce the sample rate to 7980Hz not 7080!!! so its
just a tweak really

I seem to get about 4 seconds of great speech followed by a little pop!

I like the sound of packet loss concealment - will look into that, it
seems my problem is coming from oscillator slack on the embedded part of
the system

If you do that, whatever is receiving the data from Linphone will run 
short on data.  Unless it has packet loss concealment, it will pop 
just like you are hearing now.  In other words, I think your idea 
would just move the problem from one place to another.
