Because I'm not a coder...  I put the client on my phone, built Asterisk, added 
AMR support and ensured that some other phones were configured to hand-out AMR 
as their first SDP offer.  

Beyond that, unless anyone wants to give me a crash-course in developing for 
what looks to be a difficult platform, unless it's in C++ at the sockets layer, 
I'm lost !!!

I have to look to others to help.  I'd love to see a try RFC-compliant SIP 
client on the Blackberry that supports a multitude of codecs - my plan was to 
take base, working, open-source code and adapt it to my use.  This appears to 
be the ONLY open-source SIP stack for the Blackberry, but it is unusable I it's 
current form, and I lack the ability and knowledge to fix it....
