Than you will probably would like to write a simple layout yourself,
as @DocumentLayout `include/dl' is too complex for your tasks.  Look
at @ToyLayout in `include/tl' as a good starting point.  Also look at
`include/picturef' - that illustratates how you can use Lout for
standalone illustrations.

If I get you right, SGML/DSSSL is not of much use to the tasks you
have.  Though check <URL:http://www.sil.org/sgml/sgml.html> for more
information on these two and related standards.
