problems installing fonts... |

Hi. Using any self-installed fonts just results in the text being
typed in Times Roman. My procedure is as follows:
1) Download a font from say, the O'Reilly postscript font archive.
2) Unzip (I'm on a Unix), resulting in .afm, .pfb, and .pfm files.
3) I move the .afm to lib/font/ with the other afm's, typically renaming
the file to some four letter word :-).
4) Edit the fontdefs file, supplying the correct postscript name, the
name of the .afm file, stating LtLatin1.LCM, and ReCode.
5) Giving
{ <fontname> Base <size> } @Font { hello world }
generates no errors, but the result will always be displayed in
Times Roman....Could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong ?
Also, if I get this to work, will I still be hampered by the lack of fonts
on the printer here at the university ? Is there any way to make a
printing device print a certain font that may be installed on a hard disk
but not on the ROM of the printer ? As you understand, I am no expert
in these matters, but I do a fair amount of mathematical typesetting,
so I'd really like Lout to work for me.
Thanks in advance,
Anders Moe.
