(1) The @Sym function... Uwe has answered this.
(2) Is there an easy way to set up an _outlined_ font in Lout?
Not really. If you build the font in PostScript, Lout has
a @PrependGraphic command that allows you to load it at the
front of your document. And you can add a fontdef in the
style of $(LOUTLIB)/include/fontdefs to tell Lout about it.
After those two steps, you can use your font like any other.
(3) I'm arranging one of my documents in two-column landscape mode.
Is there a way to have the TOC honor @ColumnNumber?
In general the answer to this depends on the document type.
I believe you can do it in simple "@Include { doc }" documents,
just by putting @ContentsGoesHere in the right spot. I think
technical reports without cover sheets also do this. What
document type are you using?
(4) Lout was hyphenating "MacOS" as "Ma-cOS"
Apart from "def @MacOS { "Mac" &- "OS" } or probably better
def @MacOS { @OneCol "MacOS" } to prevent hyphenation
altogether, the only option is to add it to the Exceptions
list in file $(LOUTLIB)/hyph/english.lh and remover english.lp
No, I lie; you can do this:
def MacOS { "Mac" &- "OS" }
Lout does not require symbols to begin with @.
