Follow-up Comment #17, patch #8680 (project lwip):

These changes are of course welcome, and as long as they don't add code for
those of us not needing it, I'm fine with letting the linker throw unused code
:-) so no #ifdefs should be needed.

As to the "general software engineering perspective" - there are still some
other issues left in the v6 code in that direction where function calls could
be favoured over exporting variables and types...

I'm always appreciating your (and anyone's) help on IPv6 :-)
