You're right. There's no reason to insist on gnutls for the native build. I
moved the --enable-gnutls to the MinGW build where it makes sense I think.
This seemed to require switching to winsock2 and adding a missing
"-lgpg-error".

There seem to be problems with the winsock2 patch. Stripping out the
samples and VisualStudio sections allows it to apply cleanly and the
build to succeed (see attached).

The version of patch (on OSX) is 2.58, updating to 2.61 doesn't help.


I accidentally clobbered some CRs in the patch before committing. Sorry about that. There's a later commit that fixes this, so another "hg pull -u" should do the trick. Sorry about that.
