Could you pull the source _and_ diff from the Debian Pool, patch the
source and install to /usr/local to see if the Debian Maintainer changed
anything in the compilers which causes my mldonkey to run smoothly for
_days_.

You won't be too happy with that one, as it is banned on many servers
for its abusive and even "harassive" behavior.
