I'm only looking in Debian stable and testing; Botan 1.8.0 is in
Debian unstable.

Ok.

Except that it doesn't work for me, when I installed from source:

./tester: error while loading shared libraries: libbotan-1.8.0.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

and yet:

address@hidden ls /usr/local/lib/libbotan*
/usr/local/lib/libbotan-1.8.0.so /usr/local/lib/libbotan.a
/usr/local/lib/libbotan.so
address@hidden

Any ideas?

hmm. what path is searched for libraries? maybe I need to add
/usr/local/lib to something?
