It sounds like we aren't using the same patch at the moment.
Attached is the current patch with which I get the floating
point exception.

??  It sounds like your copy of nano is corrupted?  Or... the
'spell' program that nano calls to produce a list of misspelled
words produces something different on your system, a list
layout on which nano chokes?
