Follow-up Comment #1:
It works correctly for me using the Debian package for Octave 3.2.4. I
expect that it would also work in 3.2.3. Did you build Octave from sources
yourself or install it from the Ubuntu package? Does it include support for
readline command editing and history? If not, then clc won't work because it
is implemented using the readline function rl_clear_screen.
