Follow-up Comment #14, bug #30715 (project octave):
I would consider a switch to another image library. I don't know anything
about freeimage, so I can't say whether that is the right choice. It may be
distributed under the terms of GPLv2 or any later version, so that's good.
However, I'm curious about the following statement on the freeimage web site
(http://freeimage.sourceforge.net/license.html):
When using FreeImage in your open source or commercial application, you are
REQUIRED to:
* provide a suitable acknowledgement, either in the program's "About" box
or in the user's manual (or both), for example :
This software uses the FreeImage open source image library. See
http://freeimage.sourceforge.net for details. FreeImage is used under the
(GNU GPL or FIPL), version (license version).
I don't object to giving credit, but doesn't that additional requirement
conflict with the terms of the GPL?
