Details:

In order to complete octaves make process one has to install
texi2pdf and edit the makefile to avoid following 
error message.

It is not possible at least for me to proceed without the pdf files. I had to
install texi2dvi and alter the makefiles.

by the way epstool is't available for fedora and one has to search for it
