Rik,

I just noticed your comment below that it does not
work for you in 3.6.4.  For me (Fedora 18 release
of 3.6.4 it definitely fails using fltk
but works using gnuplot.  This is the same as the 
current devel system.

I just looked at my original report and it appears 
that I did not include the fact that I was using fltk.
