Follow-up Comment #35, bug #40436 (project octave): Yes I think it is a good idea to release 3.8 with this known error. There is no bug to be fixed in Octave. We are fairly certain it is a bug in gcc 4.8.2, since only you and I are seeing it with that version, and not with 4.8.1 or any earlier version. Someone could build the current gcc 4.8 branch from svn to see if the error goes away. How would you change the algorithm?
