Are you suggesting that cset b14cdae65abd introduced the test failure, or only
that this was the latest version you happened to compile that shows the
problem?
Since you have access to Mercurial, what happens when you go back to the 3.8.0
release tag
hg update -r release-3-8-0
make distclean
./configure
make
run-octave -f
test chol
Do the failures begin with the 3.8.0 release or are they even earlier?
This works for me on Mint 13 (equivalent to Kubuntu 12.04) and libcholmod
1.7.1 with an Intel Core2Duo.
