Details:

64-bit Ubuntu 12.04.5

It appears a recent changeset requires OSMesa to be installed for offline
printing of figures. I installed libosmesa6-dev per discussion in Bug #33180.
However it maps to OSMesa version 8.5. Consequently the Octave build fails
when making the figures for the online documentation, as it requires OSMesa >=
9.0.

I have temporarily disabled the building of Octave documentation. Building
OSMesa from scratch keeps failing with a growing list of missing -proto
libraries from [1], and I wasn't sure whether I needed a full MESA/DRM system
built from scratch for Octave. Could someone share advice here about the best
way to install OSMesa for Octave, given that the precompiled binary maps to an
old version?
