Follow-up Comment #9, bug #44346 (project octave): Yes, we should ultimately remove the XTRA_ flags. Mike's comments about the reason for leaving CFLAGS untouched are what I was about to write. However, it may be true that subsequent tests would pass or fail with or without the use of things like the openmp or pthreads flags.
