Follow-up Comment #123, bug #49053 (project octave):

I noted in one of the earlier comments that the text extents were not
calculated correctly.  The test code I used was


close all
ht = text (0.5, 0.5, "Hello World", "backgroundcolor", "r")


In this case the text is rendered perfectly, but the background rectangle
which depends on the calculation of text extents is much too large.
