Follow-up Comment #35, bug #53733 (project octave):

Sorry, comment #34 was missing its footnote, namely the packages affected by
the upgrade from octave 4.2.1 to 4.2.2:

[*] The upgrade of octave from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 implied an upgrade to the
following packages. All other packages where held (in particular the kernel
and openjdk packages). Citing the relevant part from /var/log/aptitude:
