Follow-up Comment #1:
It would probably be nicer, it's true, but it might be a lot of work. Right
now, as you have found, the input is captured and eval'ed. This is useful
because you can have expressions such as
1 + 2 + sind (45)
I don't see an easy way to police what the user types.
