Follow-up Comment #37:

This does not seem to be an Octave bug, rather than an upstream bug in
fontconfig.  I am tempted to close it.  Before doing so, is there any reason
not to add


@del /Q /S %LOCALAPPDATA%\fontconfig\cache\


to fc_update.bat?  Or would using the '-r' switch be better because then we
wouldn't have to worry if the fontconfig directory is moved?
