Follow-up Comment #20, bug #56151 (project octave):

eflister: I generally agree, but I also think "unexpected" behavior is quite
subjective.  As someone who has used bash, Emacs, vi, and similar programs for
many years, I would find ESC clearing the line to be annoying and unexpected.
