Follow-up Comment #1, bug #56183 (project octave):
One note: For Homebrew, and I believe other package managers, testing the
package is a post-installation task: it verifies that after the whole
installation is done, the application is running properly. So it doesn't
necessarily have to be runnable from the build directory, at least for that
purpose.
