Ben,

I said I would try to document this and send it, or even
generate a changeset.  I know I am late, but only the
usual excuses apply.

What I have been able to do is update my writeup to a recent
(end of December) build.  I am attaching that and the config.log
file from the build that the writeup is based on.

I hope this is useful.  The writeup can be cut and pasted into
README.OSX without too much trouble (I hope).  The config.log
is more for your reference even though it might help someone
trying to do a build and having problems.
